As many pet owners are aware, pesticides and fertilizers are toxic to domestic animals. Do you love your pet? Do you want them to live long, healthy lives? You might not think about it but the pesticides that are used on plants in your own backyard could be harming your pet. Many homeowners don’t realize this and continue to use harmful chemicals without knowing what they’re doing. However, there are steps that can be taken to protect pets from these toxins. This blog post will give a few tips on how to limit exposure of toxic substances for both humans and pets alike.

In order for us as homeowners to keep our families safe we must make sure our homes are free of any dangerous or poisonous substances such as moldy food, insecticides, fertilizers and weed killers. It’s important for us as homeowners to understand how they can be harmful.

Some pesticides, such as the insecticide Sevin, contain carbaryl (1-naphthylmethylcarbamate). Carbaryl has been linked to liver toxicity in dogs; pesticides with this ingredient should be kept away from them at all times. There also exists a class of pesticides known as organophosphates which can permanently damage the nervous system and brain in household pets if ingested. Additionally, these pesticides have been found to lead to fetal deformities like cleft palates when they’re present in pregnant female’s bodies during gestation.

Tips to protect your pet from harmful pesticides:

  1. Be aware of the products you are using to fertilize your lawn
  2. Keep pets away from fertilizers and pesticides
  3. Use a natural fertilizer like compost, manure or mulch instead of synthetic ones
  4. Do not use insecticides that contain organophosphates on your lawn or in your garden
  5. Avoid using pet care products with harmful chemicals near plants where animals can get to them (e.g., antifreeze)
  6. Clean up after yourself – don’t leave dishes in the sink or dirty clothes lying around”

There are a number of ways that you can protect your pet from harmful pesticides. Protecting them is not only good for their health, but it also goes a long way in protecting the environment and wildlife as well. In order to get started on this journey with your pets, take some time to research what steps you’ll need to take before going outside with them and how often they will have contact with different types of lawns or gardens while out on walks around town. It’s worth doing all the necessary preparations ahead of time so that when summer rolls around, there won’t be anything stopping you from enjoying the outdoors together!
